Smog has reached Sochi.
Smog from fires at the oil depot in Tuapse has reached Sochi. This was reported by ecologist Georgiy Kavanosyan, having published photos of local residents. According to his assessment, the smoke zone may spread further - all the way to Krasnodar.
Sochi residents report that it rained in the morning in the city. Probably, the precipitation has already absorbed the products of oil products combustion - oxides of sulfur and nitrogen, which, when interacting with moisture, turn into acids and fall out as acid rain.
Sochi is home to one of the most famous residences of Vladimir Putin - "Bocharov Ruchey". The complex includes about 40 hectares of forest park, a private beach, swimming pools, a tennis court and a specialized judo hall. The president often spent spring and fall here, hosting world leaders from George Bush to the heads of CIS countries. The modern Bocharov Ruchey-2 building is also used for official events, according to "Dialogue".

Nearby is the so-called "Putin Palace" on Cape Idokopas near Gelendzhik, a massive 17,700-square-meter complex that investigators say was built specifically for the president, although this is officially denied.
The toxic cloud continues to spread. On Tuesday, the smoke has already reached Armavir and the outskirts of Stavropol, and now the polluted air is being recorded in other areas of the Black Sea coast. Against the background of the ongoing fire, the ecological situation in the region is rapidly deteriorating.
Ecologist, who commented on the situation to "Agency" on condition of anonymity, warned that the smog poses a danger to the areas it passes through, as well as to the health of local residents. According to him, some of the oil products do not burn completely and then settle on the ground together with precipitation. Such a situation is already observed in Tuapse and can be repeated in other areas.
In addition, toxic products of incomplete combustion dissolve in the raindrops, which makes such precipitation potentially dangerous. During combustion, nitrogen and sulfur oxides are released into the atmosphere, which turn into acids and then fall out with the rain.
Wednesday morning rain has already fallen in Sochi, and precipitation is also expected in Tuapse and Goryachy Klyuch.
