Media: Navalny's Poisoners Are Responsible For The Doping Program In Russian Sports

The same people were involved in the synthesis of poisons and the production of doping.

A second FSB service whose officers were implicated in the poisoning of Russian politician Alexei Navalny is responsible for a doping program in Russian sports, according to an investigation by The Insider.

The publication has learned that Dmitri Kovalev, who acted in the summer of 2020 as a forensic expert for the Russian Anti-Doping Agency at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, where the suspension of Russian athletes for doping was considered, is a colonel of the Second Service of the FSB.

The publication said that in the days when Kovalev testified before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, he was constantly on the phone with Major General Vladimir Bogdanov, a key figure in the FSB's Center for Special Technologies. According to The Insider, the "doping project" since 2015 was handled by the NTs "Signal", which is de facto under Bogdanov's operational control. According to the publication, they decided to create doping at Signal after Grigory Rodchenkov publicly spoke about the doping program in Russian sports.

The publication's source familiar with the inner workings of the Signal center said that although the synthesis of poisons and the production of doping were unrelated programs, all projects "involved the same scientists using the same equipment."
