Trump Wants To Sink Iranian Boats Following Venezuela's Example

But there's a nuance.

Although the U.S. and Israel sank 155 of Iran's big ships during their military operation virtually wiping out the country's entire fleet. However, Tehran still has about 4,000 combat fast boats in reserve, which the United States wants to fight with following the example of Venezuela.

This is reported by Fox News.

Washington plans to transfer the successful tactics of "hunting" drug traffickers from Venezuela to a military confrontation with Iran. There, the US military has carried out dozens of deadly strikes on cartel speedboats.

The same scheme will now be applied in the Persian Gulf. President Donald Trump reiterated the seriousness of the intentions on his Truth Social network. He warned: any Iranian boat that comes close to the blockade will be eliminated without hesitation.

"It will be done immediately, using the same assassination system we use against drug traffickers on boats at sea.... It's swift and brutal," Trump said.

The tactic is based on total surveillance and precision strikes. U.S. drones now monitor Iran's coastline around the clock.

An army of 4,000 boats: what's the difficulty

Iran has managed to hide thousands of armed fast boats in various bunkers and caches, including among the civilian fleet. Washington Institute senior fellow Farzin Nadimi estimates this fleet at 3,000 to 4,000 units.

Some boats are launched directly from fortified complexes in the cliffs. This makes them elusive to traditional missile attacks on ports.

The situation is also complicated by geography. At its narrowest point, the strait is only 20 miles wide. Here, huge tankers and warships have to navigate narrow corridors.

Iranian boats are ideally adapted to such conditions:

they merge with civilian vessels;

they use "swarm attack" tactics;

they are armed with MANPADS to counter aircraft;

they can carry anti-ship missiles.

In contrast to drug traffickers, Iranian crews are regular military personnel. They are trained and have air defense capabilities.

Analysts warn: if peace talks fail, the speedboats will attack. And then the US will use its "Caribbean" tactics to their full potential.
