Belarusian Border Guard Crossed The Border With Lithuania

April 15, a Belarusian border guard illegally crossed the border with Lithuania. This was reported in the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania.

The incident occurred near the village Krakunai in Shalchininka district - in the section of the so-called Deveniski loop, which is surrounded on all sides by the territory of Belarus.

The agency noted that there used to be a checkpoint of the local border traffic "Krakunai - Geraneni," closed in 2020. The border line in this section is marked with a white stripe, there is also a central border post and the corresponding signs on both sides.

According to Lithuanian border guards, that day four Belarusian servicemen approached the border from their side. One of them crossed the line and went about a meter into Lithuanian territory, where he stopped briefly, sitting down on a concrete block. After that he went back and the group continued patrolling.

The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service said that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident.
