Friedrich Merz proposed revisiting the issue of granting Kyiv associate membership in the union.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during a visit to Kyiv, announced his intention to push for Ukraine’s accelerated admission to the European Union (EU) and also proposed reopening discussions on granting Ukraine associate membership in the union.
“We want to accelerate Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. We are striving to accelerate this process and are working on it in Brussels,” said Merz.
The German chancellor also announced plans to hold a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” in Berlin this winter.
