Zelenskyy made this announcement.

By the end of October, Ukraine will begin using small missiles to counter Russian jet drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Sunday, October 4.

“The small missile program. I won’t mention any names right now. There are several types. We will obviously see results this month. Toward the end, in the second half of this month,” the president said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized that mass production depends on the outcome.

“But if we see results, we’ll be able to immediately ramp up production to normal levels for this product,” Zelenskyy clarified.

According to him, the current destruction rate of Russian jet-powered UAVs ranges from 50% to 60%. Work is underway to ensure that F-16s can fire five to six thousand 20-mm rounds per day.

“The F-16s are a huge help; the 20-mm ammunition works well. We’re currently working to ensure that we have 5,000–6,000 rounds of this ammunition per day. This is a very difficult task; we’re working on it and we also thank Germany for its support in this area. This is what will strengthen us,” he noted.

Zelenskyy also reported on contacts with Poland.

“Yesterday we were in contact with the Polish side, with the prime minister. Tomorrow we’ll also be speaking with Donald (Tusk—ed.) and Emmanuel (Macron—ed.). And, of course, we’ll be working to increase the volume of these munitions. Both Norway and Finland will assist us. We are working on this,” he noted.
