A Major Russian Defense Ministry Facility Near Moscow Has Been Attacked

Long-range weapons of the Ukrainian army struck the 75th Arsenal in the city of Serpukhov.

On the night of October 22, a series of powerful explosions rocked the area around the city of Serpukhov in the Moscow Region. The region was attacked with missiles and jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted a major enterprise in the Russian defense-industrial complex. This was reported by the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+.

Strike on a Strategic Facility

Long-range weapons of the Ukrainian army struck the 75th arsenal in the city of Serpukhov. During the military operation, a missile threat alert sounded in the area around the city, and jet-powered UAVs were observed flying overhead.

The target of the attack was a key facility in the Russian defense industry, specializing in the maintenance, overhaul, restoration, and storage of military equipment. A particular focus of its operations is work with air defense systems.

According to official data from the state corporation “Rostec,” the company’s divisions are directly involved in the repair and maintenance of the “Buk-M1” and “Buk-M2” anti-aircraft missile systems, self-propelled launchers, and components of the S-300V air defense missile system.

The only storage facility

Independent OSINT researchers have previously drawn attention to the facility in Serpukhov on multiple occasions. In particular, on March 29, 2024, an analyst known by the pseudonym Jompy noted that the 75th Arsenal is the only storage facility for Russian air defense missile systems that he has confirmed and identified.

A strike on this facility would deal a significant blow to the logistics and recovery capabilities of Russia’s air defense forces. The extent of the damage and the consequences of the strike are still being assessed. OSINT researchers note that details regarding the extent of the damage will become available after the publication of new satellite imagery.
