"Orthodox Oligarch" Malofeev Complained That He Had Been Deprived Of His U.S. Investments

He had previously made anti-American statements on numerous occasions.

The founder of the patriotic TV channel “Tsargrad” , Konstantin Malofeev , who has called the U.S. “servants of Satan,” spoke about his attempts to recover his American investments. In March 2014, the businessman invested approximately $10 million in shares of the Texas-based banking holding company Strategic Growth Bancorp—just a few months before sanctions were imposed on him for supporting separatists in Ukraine.

According to Malofeev, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case against representatives of the U.S. government. The businessman accused former U.S. President Joe Biden, former Attorney General Merrick Garland, and U.S. prosecutors of forming a criminal group that allegedly stole his money.

After sanctions were imposed, Malofeev’s investments were frozen. In 2017, Strategic Growth Bancorp merged with Sunflower Bank. Malofeev’s shares were converted into $5.4 million, which was confiscated by U.S. authorities. In 2023, Garland authorized the transfer of these funds to the State Department to aid Ukraine. Malofeev claims that the remaining funds may have been embezzled by representatives of the Biden administration.

“The Biden group is charged with two offenses. Theft on an especially large scale from a bank account, committed by an organized group—Article 158, Part 4—punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to one million rubles. And the organization of terrorist financing—Article 205.1, Part 4, 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment,” writes the Orthodox oligarch.

Despite his investments in the U.S., Malofeev regularly makes anti-American statements. He has called America a “false empire,” and during the war with Iran, he wrote that the U.S. brings “hell” upon its neighbors and is “Satan’s servants.”
