Ukraine Has Imposed Special Measures Along Its Border With Belarus

The restrictions will remain in effect until martial law is lifted.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has introduced a special border regime in a one-kilometer-wide strip along the border with Russia and Belarus. This was reported by reported the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Within the designated territory, in the kilometer-wide zone, it is prohibited for people whose activities are not related to state border protection or national defense to enter, reside, or work.

The decision is explained by the need to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities amid a full-scale war with Russia. Additionally, there is risk that Belarusian territory could be used to destabilize the socio-political situation in border regions and to conduct intelligence and subversive activities.

The new rules are intended to protect civilians from danger and prevent them from accidentally or unauthorizedly entering the potentially dangerous border zone.

It is noted that all established restrictions are temporary and will be lifted immediately upon the expiration of martial law.

As a reminder, the Lukashenko regime has been providing assistance to Russia since the very beginning of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. Recently, ever since Kyiv has been facing a constant threat from jet-powered UAVs, it has become apparent that all these drones are following the same route—partly along the border with Belarus.
