A rally in support of the Yabloko party was held outside the Supreme Court building.

On Monday mass arrests took place outside the Russian Supreme Court building in Moscow—at least 35 people were detained outside the building where the Yabloko party’s appeal against the decision to bar it from the parliamentary elections was being heard. The party had previously spoken out against the war in Ukraine, according to “Meduza”.

This was reported by the head of the Moscow branch of Yabloko Kirill Goncharov. According to him, those detained were taken to the Khamovniki and Arbat police stations. Goncharov himself was at the scene and called the incident unjustified.

Among those detained was 73-year-old actor Viktor Balabanov, a State Duma candidate nominated by Yabloko. He had come to court as a witness in the case and, despite having a pacemaker, was also detained.

Human rights activists reported another detention—that of party activist Evgenia Titova. According to representatives of “Yabloko” and human rights activists, the police attempted to disperse party supporters who had gathered outside the courthouse.
