In Latvia, NATO Fighter Jets Shot Down A Drone That Had Entered The Country's Airspace

The country's armed forces responded immediately.

This morning, Friday, August 14, an unidentified drone entered Latvian airspace. Shortly after the incident, the drone was shot down.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a post by the Latvian Army on social media H.

At approximately 4:09 a.m., the country’s armed forces warned Latvians that an air threat had been declared in the municipalities of Augšdaugava, Preili, Rēzekne, and Balvi.

“We are reporting that there is an air threat in Latvian airspace. Take immediate shelter indoors and follow the ‘two-wall rule.’ Stay tuned for official updates,” the post read.

About half an hour later, the Latvian Armed Forces announced that the threat had been neutralized. An enemy drone was shot down by NATO aircraft.

“We would like to inform you that the threat in the airspace has been eliminated. Allied fighter jets successfully shot down the unmanned aerial vehicle that had entered our airspace,” the army stated, adding that further information would be posted on their social media accounts.
