Trump Is Looking For A New White House Spokesperson

Politico reporters have learned the names of the candidates.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated a few days earlier that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt would be stepping down from her position. At the same time, a flood of potential candidates for the position began to emerge.
This was reported by Politico.
According to the publication, Trump may choose a journalist or one of his close associates for the position.
In particular, one source said that Trump was advised to appoint Monica Crowley, who is the head of the protocol office and an experienced conservative media figure. Another person suggested CNN commentator Scott Jennings, former Trump campaign press secretary Jason Miller, and former Trump adviser Alina Hubba.
Another potential candidate could be Anna Kelly, one of Livitt’s deputies, who has taken on a wide range of responsibilities in the White House press office and has appeared several times on major television networks.
A number of people have also suggested Katie Miller, a former administration official and the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Steven Miller. But a person close to the White House quickly dashed those expectations, stating bluntly, “That’s not going to happen.”
A second source close to the administration described Livitt’s departure as “unplanned,” adding:
“This is an extremely important job for Donald Trump… he probably still has some time before he makes a decision. I think the White House will conduct a thorough search here. As for the overall situation—there are various rumors circulating among TV personalities, administration staff, and people in his inner circle, such as Jason Miller and Alina Hubba,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the White House has not yet responded to questions about whether it has selected a successor and whether cabinet members will serve in an acting capacity, as was the case during Livitt’s maternity leave.
As a reminder, at the end of 2025 Caroline Livitt announced that she was pregnant for the second time. Thus, she became the first person in U.S. history to serve as White House Press Secretary while pregnant. She gave birth to a daughter on May 1.
On the night of August 12–13, Donald Trump announced that Livitt would step down from her position at the end of August. She will now focus on her family, but she is not leaving the U.S. president’s team.
