Search Efforts Have Resumed At The Crash Site Of The Russian Rocket In Poland

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin has resumed search operations in Tarnów-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship, where a Russian missile fell on Thursday—detailed laboratory analysis has indicated the need to search for another piece of debris, according to RMF24.

On Saturday, investigators returned to the scene in Tarnów-Kolonia to continue procedural and technical work. According to Marcin Kozak, spokesperson for the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office, the search conducted on Thursday using ground-penetrating radar and metal detectors had already yielded key evidence; however, further laboratory analysis revealed the need to search for another fragment of the object.

The decision to expand the search area is due to the specific nature of the terrain and the high probability that the sought-after element may be located at a considerable depth, beyond the reach of standard measuring equipment. During Saturday’s operations, specialized deep-scan equipment was deployed. The area was carefully secured by the Military Gendarmerie.

Prosecutors are reassuring the public, emphasizing that the missing fragment poses no threat to the lives or health of residents. Moreover, its discovery is not crucial to the investigation itself, but it is important for a comprehensive clarification of the circumstances of the incident.

As previously reported, Polish investigators confirmed that on July 30 in the Lublin Voivodeship a Russian X-101 cruise missile—manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at a factory in the Moscow Region—crashed.
