Russia Has Increased Its Gasoline Imports From Belarus To A Record High

But that is unlikely to be enough to meet the needs of the Russian fuel market.

In June 2026, Russia sharply increased its gasoline imports from Belarus. This was reported by the Russian publication "Vedomosti", which reviewed data from the Center for Price Indices (CPI).

According to the agency, between June 1 and 25, 2026, imports of Belarusian gasoline into Russia reached 141,000 metric tons, which is 2.4 times the volume of shipments for the entire month of May.

By comparison, in June 2025, gasoline imports from Belarus were negligible—amounting to just 1,000 metric tons.

However, as Vedomosti points out, this is unlikely to meet the needs of the Russian fuel market. According to Reuters sources, gasoline consumption in Russia during the summer—when demand for fuel is high—amounts to at least 110,000 metric tons per day.

In late June 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that there was a shortage due to Ukrainian strikes “on critical infrastructure,” but called it “non-critical.”
