Baltic Air Will Sweep Across Belarus In August

By the end of July, however, it will warm up a bit.

It appears that the coming week promises to be moderately warm — without sweltering heat, but also without sudden cold snaps. Temperatures will hover around the seasonal average, and refreshing rains and thunderstorms will be a constant feature.

Weather forecaster Dmitry Ryabov explained what to expect from the weather from July 27 through August 2.

What to expect on Monday

The week will begin with the influence of an atmospheric front from the Baltic Sea. Partly cloudy skies are expected, with brief showers in most areas; thunderstorms are possible.

Toward morning, light fog in some areas. The wind will be southerly, moderate, and gusty at times. Overnight temperatures will range from +11 to +16°C; daytime highs will range from +21°C in the northwest to +30°C in the Gomel and Brest regions.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Rain and Humidity

On Tuesday, atmospheric fronts and moist air masses will continue to dictate the weather. Cloudy with some sunny intervals; most areas will see brief showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be westerly and northwesterly, moderate and gusty.

Humidity will reach up to 80%. Overnight: +10...+16°C; during the day: +19...25°C; in the east: up to 29°C.

On Wednesday, rain and thunderstorms will persist in the eastern part of the country. At night and in the morning: fog; humidity up to 90%. Winds will be westerly and northwesterly, moderate and gusty. Overnight temperatures will range from +12 to +17°C; daytime highs will range from +18°C in the west to +25°C in the Gomel region.

It will warm up slightly by the end of the month

On Thursday, the weather will be influenced by a high-pressure system. Thunderstorms will occur mainly in the southeast. The wind will be moderate from the northwest. Fog is expected at night and in the morning, with high humidity. Overnight temperatures will range from +9 to +14°C; daytime highs will range from +25°C in the Vitebsk region to +27°C in the Brest and Gomel regions.

On Friday—no significant precipitation, partly cloudy. Winds will be moderate and variable in direction. Short-lived fog at night and in the morning. At night: +13...+18°C; during the day: from +25°C in the northeast to +29°C in the Brest region.

Cooling trend from the Baltic

On Saturday, according to Ryabov, the weather will once again be influenced by moist air masses from the Baltic. Belarusians will start August with cloudy skies and some sunny breaks. Expect brief showers at times. Thunderstorms are possible during the day.

Winds will be moderate from the west. Humidity will reach up to 80%. Overnight temperatures will range from +10 to +15°C; daytime highs will range from +19°C in the northwest to +25°C in the southeast.

On Sunday, the weather will not change significantly: cloudy with some sunny intervals, with rain in most areas. At night and in the morning, fog with visibility of up to half a kilometer.

A moderate northwesterly wind is expected. Overnight temperatures will be around +12°C, and daytime temperatures will range from +15 to +20°C, with temperatures in the Gomel and Mogilev regions reaching +21...+25°C.
