The “African Corps” Fled The Battlefield, Leaving Their Malian Allies To Be Slaughtered

Russian mercenaries chickened out during the battle near Tabrishat.

In Mali, Russian mercenaries from the “African Corps” fled the battlefield, leaving the local junta’s allied forces to their doom. Details were released by Ukrainian military intelligence (Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense).

The incident occurred in early July near the village of Tabrshat. “Local rebel groups ambushed the Russians and junta forces, who were moving in a convoy… In the heat of the attack, when the convoy began suffering serious losses in armored vehicles and personnel from the insurgents’ fire, the Russians retreated, leaving the Malian junta’s troops to fend for themselves,” the Main Intelligence Directorate reported.

Intelligence officials noted that the Russians did not provide any air support to the Malian troops, although they have “Mi-24” attack helicopters, “Mi-28,” and heavy Orion attack drones. As a result, about 60 Russian soldiers were killed, dozens were wounded, and approximately 30 more were taken prisoner by the militia.

“Russia is using the soldiers of the Malian junta as cannon fodder to achieve its own goals in Mali… The leaders of the ‘African Corps’ in Mali behave like slave owners—the regime’s soldiers serve as servants to the Russians… The Russian Federation’s sole objective in Mali is to establish control over the country’s resources—primarily gold and uranium—and to expand its foothold for further expansion across the continent,” intelligence sources reported. Furthermore, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Russians are actively selling weapons supplied to Mali ostensibly as military aid.
