According to the president, the incident occurred at 10:13 a.m. in the Sulina-Hilia area.
“I commend the Romanian pilots and ground crews for the professionalism, courage, and efficiency with which they carry out their missions. Through their actions, they contribute to the defense of our national territory and the safety of Romanian citizens,” Dan stated.
He also reported that, according to the findings of an investigation by the Romanian General Prosecutor’s Office the drone shot down the day before is of the “Shahed” type, which Russia is using in the war against Ukraine.
An investigation is currently underway regarding the drones shot down over the past two days. The results of this investigation will serve as the basis for Romania’s official diplomatic protest to the Russian Federation.
“It is unacceptable and intolerable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania’s airspace, which is also the airspace of NATO and the European Union. Such actions are unacceptable, and we take them very seriously, together with our allies,” the Romanian president emphasized.
