In Germany, A Light Aircraft Crashed Into A House

Everyone on board was killed.

A light aircraft with two people on board crashed in Germany after crashing into the roof of a private home; both were killed, according to Bild.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in Lower Saxony in the municipality of Ganderkesee, near Oldenburg. A light aircraft began to lose altitude and crashed nose-first into the roof of a private home, breaking through it and causing serious damage.

After emergency services received the report, 100 homes in the vicinity of the crash site were evacuated and the airspace was closed.

Initially, one fatality was found among the wreckage; later, another was discovered trapped inside the mangled aircraft.

It took about five hours to use a crane to remove the plane, which was wedged on the staircase between the first and second floors of the building.

By a stroke of luck, the building’s residents were on vacation and were unharmed.

According to air traffic tracking services, the crashed aircraft was a Tecnam P 2010 TDI approximately 8 meters long. It took off from Bremen in the morning, made a brief stop at the airfield in Ganderkesee, and crashed six minutes after taking off from there.
