The dictator is traveling to a country ruled by a junta.
Lukashenko traveled from Indonesia to Myanmar. The itinerary includes a one-on-one meeting with junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. The parties will discuss “the most pressing issues in Belarus-Myanmar relations.”
As a reminder, in the spring of 2021, the Myanmar military, led by the country’s commander-in-chief, General Min Aung Hlaing, overthrew the country’s elected government under the leadership of de facto Primeand Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
All attempts to hold mass rallies, strikes, and acts of civil disobedience have since been brutally suppressed by the military government. The UN has documented the use of lethal force against crowds of protesters in cities across the country.
Earlier reports indicated that the Lukashenko regime is supplying air defense systems to Myanmar and is training employees of defense enterprises.
