What is known.

One of Russia’s “Rassvet” satellites—which in Russia is referred to as the equivalent of billionaire Elon Musk’s Starlink—reportedly fell out of orbit on June 6. This was reported by the English-language specialized resource on the Russian space program RussianSpaceWeb.

The launch of the first batch of satellites took place on March 23 from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome (1st State Test Cosmodrome) in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia. A total of 16 satellites were launched into orbit, which are intended to become part of Russia’s low-Earth orbit internet network, according to RussianSpaceWeb. The project was developed by the Moscow-based company “Bureau 1440.”

According to the website, after launch, the satellites were supposed to move into a more stable orbit. Some of the satellites subsequently began maneuvering and gradually gaining altitude, but one of them—Object 4—continued to descend without any signs of engine activity.

It was likely this satellite that was the first to enter the atmosphere and burn up. As of now, there has been no official information regarding the status of the mission.
