Crimea Announced A Complete Halt To The Sale Of Gasoline For Cash

We're out of coupons.

The Moscow-appointed "head" of annexed Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, has announced in his Telegram channel that the sale of gasoline for cash has been completely halted for several days. "The coupons are not on free sale and will not be anytime soon," he wrote. According to the previously purchased coupons, fuel will be released no more than 20 liters in one hand, Aksyonov specified.

Representatives of municipalities and republican departments will be on duty at each gas station, who will record the numbers of cars filling up with coupons. At the same time, public utilities, ambulance, law enforcers and public transportation, according to the "head" of the peninsula, "will be provided with fuel in full." Aksyonov promised to update the information on a daily basis and asked Crimeans to "take the situation with understanding."

The restrictions are being introduced against the backdrop of the acute fuel shortage that has engulfed Crimea. The reason is the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on oil refining infrastructure and logistics. Ukrainian drones have effectively taken control of the federal highway R-280 "Novorossiya" ("land bridge" from Rostov-on-Don to Crimea).
