Loud Explosions Are Heard In Crimea: Darkness Has Engulfed The Cities

The Balaklava and Tavricheskaya thermal power plants have been attacked.

On Wednesday night, Crimea was hit by a massive by drones flying toward the peninsula from all directions. Explosions and power outages have been reported in cities and towns.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine reports, citing OSINT sources.

The Pervomaisky, Krasnoperekopsky, and Simferopol districts, as well as Simferopol and Sevastopol themselves, Yevpatoria, and Yalta—these are not the only locations where drone flights and explosions have been reported.

The Tavricheskaya and Balaklavskaya thermal power plants came under fire, reportedly causing widespread power outages. For example, Yalta experienced a complete blackout for some time.

Followers of Crimean social media pages reported that drones also disrupted the resort town of Yevpatoria.

Interestingly, the peninsula’s authorities did not issue a warning about the aerial threat until after 2 a.m., even though the drones had been flying for several hours. Moreover, mobile fire teams in Sevastopol attempted to shoot down the drones directly over residential buildings, according to “Krymsky Veter.”

There were also reports of a powerful explosion near the “Kacha” airfield, which occurred around 4 a.m.

Social media accounts are widely sharing footage of the drone attack on Crimea’s energy infrastructure.
