The U.S. president used harsh language.

US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during a phone call, accusing him of escalating the conflict in Lebanon and ingratitude. This was reported by Axios, citing sources in the US administration.

According to the publication, Trump was extremely unhappy with Israel's actions, believing that further strikes on Lebanon could derail the negotiation process with Iran. He also warned Netanyahu that the bombing of Beirut would only increase Israel's international isolation.

Sources say that during the conversation, the American leader made harsh remarks about the Israeli prime minister, and at one point even raised his voice, demanding an explanation for the actions of the Israeli side.

In addition, Trump reminded Netanyahu of his support during his trial on corruption charges and made it clear that he expects more loyalty from the ally.

According to one of Axios' interlocutors, the conversation turned out to be so tough that Trump actually "trashed" the Israeli prime minister. In response, Netanyahu allegedly tried to move the conversation to a calmer tone.

After the conversation, Israel dropped plans to launch a new airstrike on Beirut. Trump also expressed concern about civilian casualties in Lebanon and criticized the practice of destroying entire buildings to eliminate individual Hezbollah commanders.

Despite this, Netanyahu later said that Israel's position remains unchanged: if Hezbollah attacks continue, the Israeli army will be ready to launch new strikes on Beirut.
