US Detains Iranian Tanker In Gulf Of Oman

The U.S. military suspected the ship of trying to break Iran's naval blockade.

US Marine Corps personnel boarded the tanker Celestial Sea in the Gulf of Oman after the US military suspected the vessel of trying to break Iran's naval blockade. This was reported by the U.S. military's Central Command Headquarters in X.

The vessel was flying the Iranian flag and was released after being inspected, CENTCOM said. The crew was ordered to change course at the same time. The U.S. command says the military has already diverted 91 commercial vessels during the maritime operation against Iran.

The naval blockade of Iran has been in effect since April 13. The U.S. says it intends to stop all ships traveling to or attempting to leave Iranian ports.
