Ukraine May Give Russian Federation A Parade "as Close To Combat Operations As Possible"

Russia is frankly afraid.

Whether Ukraine should observe the so-called ceasefire on May 9 or, on the contrary, deploy forces and means to strike Moscow during the parade, will be decided only by the Ukrainian president and military leadership. Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko said this on air of the NTA TV channel, noted unian.net.

He stressed that Russia is "frankly afraid" to hold a large-scale parade. He recalled that the Kremlin leadership has always tried to organize a parade with vehicles, planes, and "boxes" from different branches of the military, demonstrating the "greatness" of their country. But this year there are no such plans.

"We need to make them afraid to walk on Red Square at all. Although in the fifth year of the war, Russia already realizes that Ukraine has every opportunity to humiliate them right there. So they're calling, they're begging.... They try to beg from a position of strength, but they understand that the decision is solely up to the Ukrainian side - the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the Stavka, who must assess the situation, because they know it best, and make a decision," he said.

Kostenko believes that if the Russians believe that they can make decisions about the war unilaterally, it is necessary to show them that "it is not only Putin who decides everything in this war." According to him, Ukraine has the forces and means to hold a parade "as close to combat operations as possible." At the same time, if a decision is made not to strike Moscow, it should be explained to the Ukrainian people.

At the same time, he said that Ukraine's partners could be involved in organizing a truce for May 9, because Putin probably "involved other channels besides Donald Trump".

Reminder that Russia plans to hold a parade in Moscow on May 9 - this year it will be held without columns of military equipment. Experts assess the sharp reduction in celebrations as a sign of Russia's decline.
