Russia Cannot Avoid Economic Takeover By China

Russia Cannot Avoid Economic Takeover By China
Andriy Kovalenko

The question is purely one of timing.

The Russian political elite has rather predictable goals. They do not want to finally turn into a raw materials appendage of China (in my opinion, they already have, but they do not think so yet), but Moscow has neither the people nor the strength to fight Beijing. Therefore, the political elite of the Russian Federation looks towards Europe and dreams of reviving the influence of the USSR in the eastern part of the continent. Thus, they want to encroach on China's interests in Europe, because Beijing's formula is "Chinese Europe", where there is no classical EU as a subject, but countries oriented towards China. Russia thus seeks to have leverage on Beijing and invests resources in splitting the EU. But there is Ukraine, without which even in theory this idea of Russia is not real, because Ukraine is a power and in many aspects a competitor of Russia. And we are oriented towards Europe. That is why the Russian political elite now sees no alternative to continuing the war, which of course they are losing. But Russia is trying to weaken us by all means, and they have been trying to carve out countries in the EU for more than two decades by corrupting political elites and creating propaganda conditions for the triumph of Russian-oriented forces.

There are two important things in this worldview of Russians, though. Each of these paths leads exclusively to the collapse of the empire. The only question is the time frame. Because Russia cannot win the confrontation between the EU and Ukraine. Avoiding the final economic takeover by China - also. The question is only in the timing.

The only way is the end of the war and regime change in Russia. But Putin puts the regime above the state.
