Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the government and the military command to significantly increase the monetary provision of servicemen. The reform of the army will officially start this June, "RBC-Ukraine" reports.

- He has set the task to significantly increase the monetary support taking into account the principle of fairness, namely - combat tasks on the front line, real combat and management experience, efficiency of a serviceman should guarantee an increase in payments," Zelensky said.

According to the announced formula, the minimum salary for rear positions will be at least 30 thousand hryvnias (about 700 dollars).

For those who are in combat positions, the amounts will be many times higher. Special attention is paid to the command staff - combat sergeants and officers, the level of payments to which will also be significantly increased.

The President of Ukraine separately highlighted the role of infantrymen, for whom special contracts will be introduced, and the amount of payments for them will be from 5.5 thousand to 9 thousand dollars.

Zelensky also announced a phased demobilization in 2026.

- I have instructed to strengthen the contractual system in the AFU so that by expanding the contractual component, we can ensure certain terms of service and the possibility - starting this year - of gradual release from service of those previously mobilized on the basis of clear time criteria," he said.
