Trump: U.S. Delegation Headed To Talks With Iran

Led by Vance.

A high-level American delegation led by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is on its way to Pakistan, where it expects talks with Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump said to the New York Post.

The statement came after Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei publicly confirmed that official Tehran has no plans to hold a new round of talks with the U.S.

- We have to negotiate. So I assume nobody is playing games at this time," the U.S. president said in a brief interview, dismissing doubts about whether the talks would fail.

The president confirmed that the high-level U.S. delegation includes Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Whitkoff and adviser Jared Kushner. He said they will arrive in Islamabad in the evening local time.

At the heart of the talks, Trump said, is a key demand - Iran must give up any pursuit of nuclear weapons.

- Get rid of nuclear weapons. It's very simple," he said.

The United States said it was participating in the new round of talks, which come just days before a ceasefire with Iran is set to expire amid escalating tensions in the region.
