Media: Pentagon Intensifies Preparations For Military Operations In Cuba

The Pentagon is stepping up covert planning for possible Cuba-related operations amid growing tensions between Washington and Havana. This is reported by USA Today with reference to sources familiar with the situation.

According to the publication, the Pentagon was instructed to intensify the development of various scenarios in case of a potential development of the situation on the island, if the relevant decision is made by President Donald Trump. At the same time, we are not talking about direct preparations for a military operation, but about working out possible response options, including forceful measures.

Sources emphasize that the planning is preliminary and confidential. Its purpose is to assess possible actions in the event of further escalation around Cuba. The focus is on expanding strategic developments within the US Southern Command.

Officially, Pentagon officials did not confirm preparations for military intervention. Earlier, the U.S. military leadership said that the priority remains the protection of U.S. interests in the region, including the security of military facilities and readiness to respond to possible crises.
