Lyutiy Drones Hit One Of Russia's Largest Petrochemical Plants

New details of the attack in Bashkortostan.

In Bashkortostan, "Lyuty" drones attacked the "Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant" (SNKhZ), OSINTers have established. On the territory of the enterprise started a fire and began evacuating employees, writes "Focus". Why is the enterprise strategically important for the Russian Federation and when else has it been hit by Ukrainian drones?"

On the network appeared footage from Sterlitamak, which made it possible to geolocate the point of impact of drones "Lyutiy", said in Telegram-channel rossMedia Astra. On the basis of the received photo OSINTers established that the drones attacked the workshops of JSC "Sterlitamak petrochemical plant". The Russian chemical company is not under global sanctions because of military products, despite the fact that it produces aviation gasoline for the Russian Armed Forces aviation.

OSINTer Astra has not yet provided exact coordinates of the hit, while local authorities said the industrial plant was damaged without naming it, the report said. The media outlet recalled that SNKHZ produces synthetic rubber, phenolic antioxidants, components for fuel (including aviation fuel), and other chemical products.

Subsequently, the Russian media outlet Astra wrote that the evacuation of the chemical plant's employees had begun. At the same time, company representatives said there were no casualties, and only five Russians were in the damaged shop.

"Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant" is an enterprise of the "Roskhim" group of companies, located on the northern outskirts of Sterlitamak (53.68, 55.97) at a distance of about 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine. According to RosSMI, the plant produced 4,480 tons of aviation gasoline in 2023, which is sold to regions of the Russian Federation and also to Kazakhstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Mongolia. Earlier Sterlitamak chemical plant has already been hit by the Ukrainian Defense Forces drones. The previous incident took place on November 4-5, 2025, when the fuel additives shop was on fire.

Note that in December 2025, Focus wrote about an investigation by the Economic Security Council of Ukraine (ESCU, ESCU), which spoke about Russia's critical dependence on supplies of rubber and fuel additives from China. Among other things, the investigators told about the Sterlitamak chemical plant, which is the only one producing the antioxidant additive Argidol-1.

The Exilenova+ channel specified that there could have been several arrivals on the territory of the plant at once, but so far the points have not been geolocated. One of these points could be the "Bashkir Soda Company": this was written in Telegram of the group "Information Resistance". Meanwhile, the governor of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, said that there was indeed a drone attack in Sterlitamak, which was handled by Russian air defense. According to the official, debris fell on the territory of an unnamed industrial enterprise.

We note that footage of explosions in the Russian Federation appeared online at around 10 o'clock on April 15. The video recorded the drone "Lyuty", which was spotted in Bashkiria, and then - columns of smoke in the industrial area of Sterlitamak.

To get to the target, the drones had to overcome about 1300-1600 km and passed the air defense system in at least five regions (if flew in a straight line - in Belgorod, Voronezh, Saratov, Samara) and in Bashkiria. In the morning, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the shooting down of 85 Ukrainian UAVs, but did not mention the strike on Bashkiria.
