The President of Ukraine will hold talks with Erdogan.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he arrived in Istanbul on Saturday, where he will hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“My team and I have arrived in Istanbul… We are working to strengthen the protection of our people, our partnership with Turkey, and real diplomatic prospects,” — the president wrote on his Telegram.
According to the head of state, the talks will also address important issues related to shipping in the Black Sea. In addition, Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
As a reminder, in the first half of October, six merchant ships were attacked in the Black Sea over a ten-day period. Among them were the Alfa Watan, HS Dignity, Wine Trader, and Yara J. Thomas Alexa, a senior analyst at Ambrey, attributed the rise in the number of incidents, in particular, to dual strikes by aerial and surface drones. Due to the increased risks, the number of ship calls to Ukraine has decreased, and shipping insurance premiums have risen.
