An analysis by a political strategist.
Kirill Budanov's personal contacts with American partners help facilitate the exchange of intelligence between Ukraine and the United States. This was reported stated political strategist Oleg Posternak, while analyzing an article from the American publication The Atlantic.
“Cooperation between U.S. and Ukrainian intelligence agencies continues. And to a large extent, this is the result of close ties between the intelligence services that were established back when Budanov was head of the Main Intelligence Directorate,” the expert noted in a post on his Facebook page.
As the political strategist notes, the CIA provides Ukraine with intelligence that helps plan operations against Russian military targets and identify threats of missile and drone attacks in a timely manner. According to Posternak, the continuation of this cooperation indicates that working ties between the intelligence agencies remain intact, despite political disagreements between the two countries in recent months.
Posternak also notes the important role of personal contacts in the context of negotiations to end the war. In his assessment, Budanov’s communication with representatives of Donald Trump’s inner circle allows for the discussion of key issues regarding future agreements, particularly security guarantees and territorial conditions.
“It was precisely Budanov’s close contact with Trump’s inner circle that set in motion the profound process that today is arguably the only way to force Putin to stop the war,” the political strategist is convinced.
