Kubrakov Jr. had previously served as deputy chief of that department.

Vladimir Kubrakov has been appointed chief of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the capital. The Minsk police announced this on their Telegram channel.

Police Major Vladimir Kubrakov is the son of Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov, who has headed the ministry since October 2020 and has been implicated in the mass repression of peaceful protesters.

Kubrakov Jr. previously served as deputy chief of the Central Regional Internal Affairs Directorate, which he now heads.

In July 2023, machine shop carpenter Alexander Borovik was sentenced to one year in a general-regime penal colony and fined 50 base units (1,850 rubles) for an “offensive” comment on Telegram regarding the two Kubrakovs.

Four more police colonels received appointments. Dmitry Yasyuchenya became chief of the Leninsky District Internal Affairs Directorate in the capital. Alexander Basov was appointed chief of the Moscow District Internal Affairs Directorate. Dmitry Sholokh was appointed head of the Sovetsky District Police Department. Dmitry Shumilin was appointed deputy chief of public security for the Main Police Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
