This hasn't happened in over five years.
The British Royal Navy has deployed three of its four Vanguard-class strategic nuclear submarines—the largest simultaneous deployment in more than five years.
This move comes amid a significant increase in Russian naval activity off the coast of the United Kingdom, as well as deeper coordination between the nuclear forces of London and Paris, according to Il Messaggero.
According to the report, at least one of the submarines, equipped with Trident ballistic missiles (Trident), is carrying out missions to maintain a constant nuclear deterrent, while the other two are engaged in testing or preparatory operations.
The British Ministry of Defense declined to comment on the specific missions of the submarines, citing security concerns. At the same time, experts note that this decision may indicate an increase in the fleet’s operational readiness and also help reduce the workload on the crews.
