The Ukrainian Armed Forces Struck A Chemical Plant In Voronezh That Produces Rocket Fuel

The plant's products are dual-use goods.

The Russian city of Voronezh came under a massive drone attack: there were reports of explosions and drone strikes in various parts of the city. Online reports suggest that the Voronezhsintezkauchuk petrochemical plant may have been hit as a result.

According to Astra, black smoke in the video of the UAV attack in Voronezh rises above the plant’s grounds.

Earlier, Voronezh Region Governor Gusev stated that 113 drones were destroyed over the region last night, 70 of which were allegedly shot down directly over Voronezh. He also confirmed that fires had broken out at industrial facilities.

“Voronezhsintezkauchuk” produces thermoplastic elastomers and synthetic rubbers and is owned by Sibur. The plant’s products are dual-use goods. The plant produces more than 385,000 metric tons of products annually, which are used, among other things, in the manufacture of tires for military aircraft and heavy wheeled vehicles, as well as rubber products for armored vehicles and shipbuilding.

Synthetic rubber is also used in rocket engineering. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the plant is involved in the production of solid rocket fuel, which is used, among other things, for the ballistic missiles of the “Iskander” operational-tactical missile systems.

In addition, due to a drone attack, train traffic was halted on the section near Voronezh: there is no power in the overhead contact line. A car of the “Anapa–Moscow” passenger train was also damaged.
