Garry Kasparov: A Turning Point Has Arrived

There is only one course of action left.
The time has come for the civilized world to to unite around Ukraine to help it prevail and escape Putin’s aggressive attacks, according to one of the leaders of the Russian opposition, former world chess champion Garry Kasparov. In his view, the situation is simple and clear-cut: war is like a chessboard, where there are black and white pieces, and there should be no gray areas or undecided parties.
The politician outlined his position on the YouTube channel “Forum of Free Russia.”
Kasparov expressed outrage at the inaction of those capable of helping Ukraine end the war: “There are no limits for Putin. He is waging a war to destroy Ukraine. He says so himself, which is why he uses every resource he receives for precisely that purpose. Everyone will face problems down the road. It’s nice to sit in Amsterdam—it’s safe there—but the free ride might end, because Ukraine is holding Europe together; therefore, out of self-preservation, you must understand: you must fight on Ukraine’s side now.”
Speaking about his own activities, the opposition figure noted: “We are the ‘Party of Ukraine’s Victory.’ A nice name, of course. We’re doing whatever we can to ensure Ukraine’s victory. Everyone is doing what they can. I, by the way, am doing quite a lot, and they know this very well. I’ve already ended up on the very ‘blacklist’ that exists. We’re lobbying in the U.S. and Europe, helping Ukraine raise funds, and collecting money directly. This is concrete work. Perhaps we’d like to be more effective. And what are you doing? We’ve really reached a point now where there’s no middle ground, so if you’re not helping Ukraine, you’re helping Putin. That’s the verdict,” the Russian opposition figure concluded.
