The fans showed their enthusiastic support for Ukraine.

The second round of group stage matches in the 2026/2027 Nations League has concluded. Among the tournament participants is the Belarusian national team, which has not been subject to UEFA sanctions.

Despite Russia’s support in the war against Ukraine, the Belarusians continue to compete on the international stage. Many fans are unhappy with this team, according to yle.fi.

On Tuesday, September 29, Belarus played an away game against Finland. The home fans staged a striking protest in support of Ukraine and against Alexander Lukashenko. They unfurled a banner depicting the dictator as a cockroach fleeing from an owl, Finland’s national symbol. The Finnish national team captain Lukasz Gradecki highly praised the demonstration.

“There was a lively and great atmosphere in the stadium, unlike back when matches were held with restrictions due to COVID-19. As for the protest, everyone has the right to express their civic stance. And this aligns with the views of many players on the Finnish national team,” said Gradecki.

In addition to the large banner, fans loudly sang the song “Putin is a dick.” Near the stadium, they also posted flyers against Putin and Lukashenko.

The match ended in a scoreless draw. After two rounds, Finland has 4 points and is in second place in Group C. Albania leads with six points, while Belarus is in third place with one point.
