Is the Viking Age over?
Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland kicked off the Premier League season with a new look, and fans are divided on it. “What have you done? Did you lose a bet? Block me and delete my number,” Zlatan Ibrahimović wrote to Haaland.
The 26-year-old viral sensation of this year’s World Cup stunned fans by ditching his signature long hair and debuting a radically shorter haircut, according to Euronews.
The lion’s mane is gone. The luxurious Norwegian locks have been cut off. The majestic blond hair lost its length at the height of its glory.
On Sunday (August 23), Hollan took to social media to show off his new hairstyle—on the eve of the Premier League season opener and Manchester City’s first match against Bournemouth.
“New season—new haircut,” Holann wrote in the caption… The post quickly went viral: fans flooded the comments section with their reactions.

Just like David Beckham once did—who in 2000 said goodbye to his long hair in favor of a buzz cut—the “Striking Viking’s” new hairstyle has divided opinions.
“I was gone for an hour, and Holann already has short hair—seriously,” wrote one X user. Another added: “The fact that Erling Haaland cut his hair is worse than when Keri Russell got her haircut on ‘Felicity’—it looks awful, oh my God.”
“THE VIKING ERA IS OVER,” lamented yet another.

Celebrities also joined the discussion.
Noel Gallagher of Oasis said: “You look about 17. That’s good. Change is good.”
Former “Manchester City” coach Pep Guardiola commented: “No way. You’re lucky you have any hair at all. I’d love to have a head of hair like that. I like it.”

Earlier, Holann joked that Zlatan Ibrahimović had told him, “Never cut your hair—your strength lies in your hair.”
It turns out that Ibrahimović wasn’t impressed that Holann didn’t follow his advice.
“What did you do? Did you lose a bet or something? Block me and delete my number,” Ibrahimović joked.
Let’s hope he was really joking. And that Zlatan is wrong: the short haircut didn’t help Holann in the season opener. The star striker missed several great chances in City’s 2-1 victory at the Etihad. Still, the main thing is that the team won…
