Kyiv is seeking a response to Russia's acts of terror.
Ukraine called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council following yet another massive Russian shelling that took place on the night of July 6. This was reported by reported the country’s foreign minister Andriy Sibiga.
The foreign minister called on the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which currently holds the Council presidency, and the permanent members of the Security Council to support Ukraine’s request to hold a meeting following the second large-scale attack by the Russian Federation in the past few days.
“Every Russian missile launched against Ukraine carries a message that extends far beyond our borders. It is intended to convince the world that violence can replace the rule of law, that fear is stronger than solidarity, and that brutality goes unpunished,” Sibiga wrote.
The minister called on the international community to stand united in deterring Russian aggression.
“A delayed or weak response cannot stop the terror. Only strong, principled, and timely actions can do so,” the official emphasized.
As a reminder, on the night of July 6, the Russian Federation launched massive combined attack on Ukrainian territory. According to Ukrainian sources, six 3M22 “Zircon”/“Onyx” anti-ship missiles and 23 “Iskander-M”/S-400 ballistic missiles were launched. It is reported that 29 ballistic missiles, including anti-ship missiles, struck their targets.
As a result of the strike, the death toll in Kyiv is rising. In the Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts of the capital, hits on residential high-rise buildings have been recorded, and civilian facilities have been damaged.
