Some interesting details have emerged from sources.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained why he rejected Mykhailo Fedorov's reappointment as Minister of Defense following the government’s resignation. According to him, the team of the former defense minister remains in place, so it will continue the work it has begun.
This was RBC-Ukraine was informed by knowledgeable sources.
The president, as is well known, was prepared to offer Fedorov other positions.
“And if there is a lack of overall ‘vision’ for the process, Fedorov could provide it, for example, in the role of deputy prime minister—a ministerial portfolio is not necessary for that,” the sources quoted Zelenskyy as saying.
At the same time, a source close to Fedorov commented on the head of state’s proposal regarding other positions for the former defense minister. He claims that the system doesn’t work that way.
“A deputy prime minister cannot influence the situation. When you’re a minister, you sign documents; you assemble a team for specific tasks. But when you’re not part of the team, you cease to be part of that system,” said a source close to the former defense minister.
At present, the question of Fedorov’s return to the post of defense minister is hardly relevant, the article states, since Zelenskyy clearly sees Yevhen Khmara in that role.
