Zelenskyy Weighs In On The Conflict Between Fedorov And Syrsky

The President of Ukraine explained why he dismissed them.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the resignation of Mykhailo Fedorov from the post of Minister of Defense and his conflict with former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

In an interview with a reporter Sky News correspondent, he emphasized that he respects both Fedorov and Syrsky, but that major military operations are “not the work of a single person,” but rather a joint effort led by the intelligence services, reconnaissance units, and soldiers on the ground.

“If you want to focus on what matters during this war, you must understand that the warrior, the soldier, comes first,” he said.

When asked by a journalist whether he would reinstate Fedorov, Zelenskyy did not answer directly, but stated that he had neither the time nor the means to allow workplace disagreements to influence military strategy:

“I don’t have time for negotiations. Listen, I don’t have time to listen to one side and then the other, because both sides aren’t ready to meet every day—they need to meet every hour until our skies are protected. I don’t need to figure out who’s right and who’s wrong.”

Zelenskyy explained that in recent months there had been a major problem in the working relationship and dialogue between the Chief of the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense.

“There are matters we have to manage, and they can only be managed through cooperation between the ministry and the army. You can’t manage them from just one side… I need unanimity between these two agencies,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Mikhail Fedorov stated that he would agree to return only to the position of defense minister. He noted that he is not interested in the position or status itself, but rather in the opportunity to have a real impact on the outcome and bring Ukraine closer to victory.
