Kasparov Named Those Who Are Sending Signals To The Kremlin Through Tokayev
Garry Kasparov

An Important Message from the President of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev would hardly have decided on his own to put Putin in an awkward position by calling for an end to the war—which means that some external forces are backing him. This opinion was expressed by one of the leaders of the Russian opposition, Garry Kasparov. In his assessment, it is most likely Europe and the U.S. that are trying in this way to send Putin a signal calling on him to scale back the “special military operation,” the scope of which continues to expand, causing serious concern in the West.

The Russian opposition figure shared his thoughts in an interview with Ivan Tyutrin on the YouTube channel “Free Russia Forum”.

“Tokayev cannot approach Putin with his own initiatives like that. People from the East have a sense of subordination. It’s no coincidence that this coincided with reports we’re now reading about pressure being exerted on the Trump administration to prevent the Ukrainians from striking the Caspian pipeline. There are enormous interests at stake here. I think Tokayev is speaking on behalf of the Americans and Europeans. It seems to me that the benefit is that it has once again become clear that there will be no end to the war. Putin sent him packing. “Maybe not in exactly those words, but overall, if you set aside the diplomatic rhetoric, that’s pretty much how it adds up,” Kasparov said.

He also added that Putin made it clear: the war will not end “until Ukraine meets our demands”—that is, until it capitulates and gives up the territories that Putin himself has been unable to seize by force for the past twelve years. According to Kasparov, the very fact of the message is telling: Putin is being urged to stop, but it is unclear what exactly Tokayev added to this—and most likely nothing, since everything is already obvious.

“For the sake of the experiment, it has been demonstrated once again that there will be no end to the war. For the many who are trying to respond appropriately to the threats, this is yet another signal,” the opposition figure concluded.
