Saudi Arabia Has Nearly Restored Its Pre-war Levels Of Oil Shipments Through The Strait Of Hormuz

The Kingdom is the world's largest oil exporter.

Following the resumption of tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia’s oil exports have virtually returned to the levels seen before the start of the U.S.- and Israeli-led war against Iran.

This was reported on July 2 by Bloomberg on July 2, citing its own data on tanker tracking.

“Crude oil exports from Saudi Arabia have surged, approaching pre-war levels, as the kingdom has resumed sending its tankers through the Strait of Hormuz — one of the clearest signs that supplies from the Persian Gulf are returning to normal following the conclusion of a temporary peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran,” the publication writes.

According to Bloomberg, in the six days leading up to July 2, Saudi Arabia (the world’s largest oil exporter) shipped 6.3 million barrels per day.

“This is roughly in line with the average for 2025 and represents nearly 90% of the level seen in February—the month when the country and its Gulf neighbors were ramping up shipments ahead of the war with Iran,” the agency reports.

Earlier, on July 25, four Saudi oil supertankers with a combined capacity of 8 million barrels appeared on vessel-tracking systems in the Gulf of Oman — after having been near Saudi Arabia’s main export terminals in the Persian Gulf, the agency reported.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has not yet responded to a request for comment from Bloomberg.

According to estimates from a U.S. official, as reported to the agency, the volume of oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz currently exceeds 10 million barrels per day.

At the same time, oil tankers not affiliated with Iran’s Ayatollah regime typically pass through a corridor in Omani territorial waters controlled by the U.S., Bloomberg reported.
