Intelligence data has been received.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stated that intelligence reports indicate Russia may be preparing provocations in Poland or the Baltic states to test NATO’s unity, according to LRT reports.
“We have received such signals from our intelligence services. They do not specify a particular place or time, as that is simply impossible to determine. The other side may not have yet completed the planning process, and we may only be aware of the very fact of preparation or the objective,” the Lithuanian leader explained.
“So yes, I cannot deny that we have such information and that we are talking about kinetic operations—not large-scale actions, but targeted kinetic operations that are highly likely to be directed against critical infrastructure,” Nausėda added.
Therefore, the president noted, due to this threat, Lithuania has recently strengthened the protection of its critical transportation and energy infrastructure.
The authorities are preparing for a wide range of possible attacks that could disrupt the operation of key facilities.
“Anything that could halt the operation of these facilities is a concern, since they are important not only in and of themselves but also because they ensure the functioning of the entire system—especially our synchronization with the continental European power grid,” Nausėda emphasized.
