Ukraine Will Have A New Prime Minister

Zelenskyy offered Yulia Sviridenko a different position.

On Sunday, July 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that there would be changes in the Cabinet of Ministers and also offered Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko a different position, reports New Voice.

Zelenskyy noted that he had met with Sviridenko and discussed a number of issues with her.

“We determined that a reshuffle of the Cabinet of Ministers is necessary for these changes. I am grateful to Yulia for her clear, steady, and effective work as prime minister and for her years of productive work as part of Ukraine’s team, and I have offered her the opportunity to lead a new, significant initiative in relations with a key partner. I expect that, together with members of parliament, we will make the necessary changes to the Ukrainian government,” he said.

Separately, Zelenskyy announced changes in the leadership of law enforcement agencies.

According to People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, there is no candidate for the post of Prime Minister as of yet. However, he said that the following individuals are currently being considered for the position: former Prime Minister of Ukraine and current Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal; and Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov. He also stated that the candidates include Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov and the chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi.
