Mass Exodus Of Russians From Crimea: Who's Fleeing First?

Thousands of cars have backed up at the exit from the peninsula.

Ukrainian strikes on Crimea are causing fuel shortages, water supply problems, and mass evacuations from the occupied peninsula. This is reported by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War.

The so-called “governor of Sevastopol,” Mikhail Razvozzhaev stated on June 25 that the Crimean occupation authorities are prioritizing the distribution of fuel reserves to critical sectors such as healthcare, public transportation, and other critical infrastructure, and will resume selling fuel to the civilian population via QR codes once the authorities have accumulated sufficient fuel reserves.

Razvozzhaev also acknowledged that restrictions on electricity supply have led to disruptions in the water supply.

The Crimean occupation energy operator “Krymenergo” stated on June 25 that the Crimean occupation authorities had imposed temporary restrictions on electricity supply to prevent the power grid from becoming overloaded.

Meanwhile, monitoring channels reported that long lines of approximately 2,450 vehicles leaving occupied Crimea had formed on the Kerch side of the Crimean Bridge. At the same time, there were no lines at the entrance to occupied Crimea from the Taman side of the bridge.

“Among the people leaving occupied Crimea, there are likely Russian tourists and residents of occupied Crimea, Russian military personnel and security service officers associated with the Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF), as well as occupation officials,” the ISW writes.

Analysts note that the exodus of these population groups from occupied Crimea could have demographic consequences, which may be exacerbated if Ukraine’s offensive campaign continues.
