Iran Has Offered Trump A Deal On The Strait Of Hormuz

Tehran wants to put the nuclear issue on hold.

Iran has offered the US a new agreement to unblock the Strait of Hormuz and end the mutual siege. The plan calls for the immediate restoration of shipping, but postpones key nuclear talks indefinitely.

It is reported by Reuters.

The agency said, citing an unnamed Iranian official, that Iranian authorities see their proposal as a significant step toward Washington. The main idea is to separate military tensions and complex political negotiations. Tehran wants security guarantees from the US and Israel.

The main points of the Iranian initiative:

Opening the Strait: Iran restores free movement of ships.

Lifting the blockade: the US ends economic and military pressure.

Nuclear issue: discussions on limiting centrifuges and uranium enrichment are postponed.

Recognition of rights: Washington should recognize Tehran's right to a peaceful atom.

"According to this framework, negotiations on the complex nuclear issue have been moved to the final stage to create a more favorable atmosphere," an Iranian official said on condition of anonymity.

Oil and elections: why time is playing against the US

Washington is under immense domestic pressure, Reuters notes. Gasoline prices: are skyrocketing in the U.S., and the States is a car-centric country with a large land area.

Fuel could be a major factor that will affect voters when they cast ballots for congressional candidates in November. Republicans are at great risk of losing their majority.
