Is the truce over?
The U.S. Army attacked Iranian boats and SAMs that were trying to plant mines in the Strait of Hormuz and fired at U.S. aircraft.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a post by Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin on social network X.
She wrote that the incident in southern Iran was reported to the TV station by U.S. Central Command spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins.
"Today, U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran to protect our service members from threats from Iranian forces. The targets were missile launchers and Iranian boats attempting to plant mines," he said.
Later, citing an unnamed US official, a journalist once clarified that US forces destroyed 2 Iranian boats while attempting to plant mines in the Strait of Hormuz. But the incident does not mean the truce is over.
"The military destroyed both IRGC vessels and also struck an anti-aircraft missile system in Bandar Abbas that was targeting U.S. warplanes. "These were defensive strikes." According to two well-informed sources, this does not mean the truce is over," the publication said.
Later, Jennifer Griffin published a third post in which she said that according to her information, the U.S. strikes are now over.
She reiterated that the actions were defensive, not offensive. That is, the incident was not an attempt to violate the truce. The journalist also clarified that the Iranian SAM did not just target US warplanes, but fired at them.
