The international military exercise Amber Shock 26 has begun in the Polish city of Ozysz in the northeast of the country, involving more than 3,500 servicemen of NATO countries and hundreds of vehicles. This was reported on May 2 by RMF24.
The maneuvers involve units from the U.S. Army's 2nd Cavalry Regiment, as well as other allied forces from Poland and the United States.
Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Guzenda, a spokesman for Multinational Division Northeast, said that after the regiment was moved from Germany over 1,000 kilometers away, its units deployed to a training range in Poland, became part of NATO's Multinational Battle Group and came under the division's command.
He said that during the exercise, the military will perform tactical and fire-fighting tasks aimed at practicing interaction between units, as well as demonstrate the cohesion and readiness of NATO countries to ensure collective security.
He added that the culmination of the exercise will be a live firing exercise scheduled for Thursday, May 14.
Amber Shock 26 is part of the wider Saber Strike 26 exercise, which is taking place simultaneously in Poland, Lithuania and Finland, the RMF FM radio website noted.
