Tehran has taken a step toward opening the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has presented the US with a new proposal to end the war, hinting at a compromise to restart peace talks.
According to The Wall Street Journal.
Sources said the sides remain far apart on the core issues, namely the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program. This suggests that the talks will remain tense.
But despite all this, Iran has taken a step toward the US by offering to discuss Tehran's conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz at the same time as US guarantees to stop attacks and lift the blockade on Iranian ports.
For understanding, Iran has previously demanded that the US lift the blockade as a precondition for talks and agree to terms for ending the war before discussing the future management of the Strait and the country's nuclear program.
In addition, Iran is now willing to discuss its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of U.S. sanctions.
Tehran has signaled to mediators that it is ready to sit down at the Pakistani negotiating table as early as early next week if Washington is open to a new offer.
